Distribution

South America: found in Venezuela and Colombia.

Taxonomy

Subspecies[1]

Four subspecies are recognized:

  • O. g. cyanolaemus:
  • Santa Marta Mountains (north-eastern Colombia)
  • O. g. lindenii:
  • Andes of north-western Venezuela (Mérida and Trujillo)
  • O. g. guerinii:
  • Páramo of eastern Andes of Colombia (south to Cundinamarca)
  • O. g. stuebelii:
  • Central Andes of Colombia (Volcán de Ruiz)

Habitat

High-altitude grassland.
