Distribution
Australia and Papua New Guinea.
Taxonomy
Two subspecies recognized:
- L. f. flavescens in Northern Australia
- L. f. melvillensis on Melville and Bathurst Islands and savanna of southeast New Guinea
It's sometimes placed in the genus Ptilotula.
Habitat
Moist lowland forests and mangrove forests.
