Distribution

Afghanistan, China, India, Kazakhstan, Mongolia, Pakistan, Russia, and Tajikistan.

Taxonomy

Two subspecies accepted:

Blyth's Rosefinch is sometimes included in this species.

Habitat

Temperate forests and boreal shrubland.
