South America: found in Colombia and Ecuador

Taxonomy

Subspecies[1]

There are 2 subspecies:

  • D. o. occidentalis:
  • Pacific slope of Andes of south-western Colombia and northern Ecuador (Carchi)
  • D. o. punctitectus:
  • Eastern slope of Andes of Ecuador (western Napo and Morona-Santiago)

Habitat

Understory of forests.

Behaviour

Breeding

It builds a simple, cupshaped nest of small rootlets. Both parents care for the young.
