Genus: Stachyris

Description

This genus contains almost 30 medium-sized Babblers from SE-Asia. They have in common:

  • Relatively short, rounded wings
  • Wings longer than tail
  • Strong legs
  • Stiff forehead feathers
  • Medium-length straight bill
  • Oval nares

Taxonomy

Stachyris is a genus in the Family Timaliidae.
Some species from the Philippines are sometimes placed in genus Sterrhoptilus or Zosterornis.
