Bucco macrodactylus

Identification

Dark brown plumage, white breast, deep chestnut cap, medium orange, narrow collar on upper back, orange spot at side of neck, deep black collar on upper breast, black eye stripe across lower eye from side to bill, 2 parallel bright white stripes, stout, short, decurved black bill with short light-buff whiskered moustachial feathers, black iris and legs.

Distribution

Brazil, Venezuela, Ecuador, Colombia, Peru, and northern Bolivia.

Taxonomy

There are 2 subspecies.

Habitat

Swamps and moist lowland forests.
