Identification
Male - black face and throat, green-blue crown, neck, breast and uppertail, black, finely vermiculated wings, pale grey horn bill. Female - red belly, white chest, grey breast, black upper mandible, grey below, broken white eye ring, white barred wings, black, white edged and black notched undertail.
Distribution
Eastern Colombia, Ecuador, Argentina, Bolivia, Paraguay, Peru and northeast Brazil.

There are 4 subspecies.
Habitat
Forest and scrub.
Behaviour
The diet includes insects and small fruit.
