Identification
58.5 to 76.5 cm, more than half of which is the tail. Blue upperparts, white tips to tail, white underparts, black bill, legs, head, throat, chest and crest, pale blue crescent over eyes and patch under eye. Juvenile - crest has white tip, patch below eye is smaller and darker blue.
Distribution
Endemic to western Mexico
Taxonomy
This is a monotypic species, which has in the past been considered part of White-throated Magpie-Jay.
Habitat
Woodland.
Behaviour
It builds a big cup nest of sticks lined with softer material. 3 to 7 whitish eggs with brown and grey spots are laid.
