Identification
17cm . The breeding male has bright yellow underparts, green upperparts and a brownish-red face and breast.
The female is a paler version of the male, with paler underparts, a grey-brown back and a grey head.

Open scrubland, including agricultural land.
Behaviour
It makes a nest in a tree or bush, and 3-5 eggs are laid.
Its diet includes seeds, supplemented by insects when feeding the young.
