Identification

Male:

  • Mostly black
  • Back, rump and belly are chestnut-brown.

Distribution

Africa: Guinea and Sierra Leone to eastern Nigeria

Taxonomy

This species was formerly combined with Vieillot's Black Weaver into Vieillot's Weaver.

Subspecies

This is a monotypic species[1].
