Identification

13cm.

  • Pale brown plumage
  • White mid belly
  • Black cap
  • Pink patterned wings and tail
  • Female duller
  • Dull yellow bill

Distribution

Turkey to NW India.

Taxonomy

Monotypic.

Habitat

Rocky mountains and barren areas. Winters in farmland.

Behaviour

It nests in the crevices of rocksl; 4-5 blue, lightly speckled eggs are laid and are incubated by the female alone.

The diet includes seeds.
