- Bluish-grey plumage

- Long white ear coverts
- Scarlet facial skin
- Red iris
- Crimson legs
Sexes similar, but spurs on males are larger and round
Immature: mottled grey-brown
Distribution
Asia: found in Mongolia, north-central China and Tibet.
Taxonomy
This is a monotypic species[1].
Habitat
Montane forests and meadows up to 3,500m.
Behaviour
Diet
The diet includes tubers, berries and vegetables.
Breeding
The clutch consists of 6-12 eggs which are incubated for 26 days.
