Identification
19 cm - a small species
- Short ear tufts, short wings and short tail
- Mostly brown with some buffy on underside
- Black streaks and buffy mottling
- Eyes yellow, bill yellowish horn
- Legs mostly feathered
Distribution
Siau Island in the Sangir Archipelago[4].
Taxonomy
This is a monotypic species[1].
Until recently, Siau Scops Owl was considered a subspecies of one of these two species: Sulawesi Scops Owl - Otus manadensis or Moluccan Scops Owl - Otus magicus
