Identification
Distribution
Brazil, Peru, Ecuador, and Colombia.
Taxonomy
This is a monotypic species.
The specific name was necopinus was in use for this species for a long period, until it was shown that the species had first been described under the name kienerii.
Some authorities now place this species in the Genus Dendroplex.
Habitat
Várzea, forests flooded freshwater, either permanently or seasonally, which occur along the lower reaches of rivers and around freshwater lakes.
