  • Dark-tipped red bill
  • Blackish crown

Distribution

Endemic to Mexico.

Taxonomy

This is a polytypic species[1] consisting of 3 subspecies.

Green-fronted Hummingbird is sometimes placed in genus Agyrtria.

Subspecies

  • R. v. viridifrons:
  • Southern Mexico (eastern Guerrero to western Oaxaca)
  • R. v. wagneri:
  • Southern Mexico (central and south Oaxaca)
  • R. v. villadai:
Southern Mexico (eastern Oaxaca and Chiapas) and west central Guatemala (Huehuetenango)
