Distribution
Found in Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, and Venezuela as reflected in subspecies ranges below.
Taxonomy
This is a polytypic species[1] consisting of 3 subspecies.

- Santa Marta Mountains (northeastern Colombia)
- C. h. homochroa:
- C. h. duncani:
- Tepuis of southern Venezuela (Bolívar and Amazonas) and northeastern Brazil
Habitat
Humid forest edges in the mountains and dwarf forests in the treeline areas while staying close to woody structure.
