Taxonomy
Subspecies[1]
There are 2 subspecies. Some authors treat obiensis as a separate species:
- D. b. basilica: Northern Moluccas (Morotai, Halmahera, Ternate, Kasiruta, Bacan)
- D. b. obiensis: "Rusty Imperial-pigeon". Obi Island (central Moluccas)
