Distribution

South-east Asia: found in Indonesia.

Taxonomy

Subspecies[1]

There are 2 subspecies. Some authors treat obiensis as a separate species:

  • D. b. basilica: Northern Moluccas (Morotai, Halmahera, Ternate, Kasiruta, Bacan)
  • D. b. obiensis: "Rusty Imperial-pigeon". Obi Island (central Moluccas)

Habitat

Lowland moist forests.

Behaviour

Diet

The diet includes fruit.
