  • Black plumage
  • Red crown, neck and upper back
  • Obvious red crest

Female: Olive green Immature male: similar to females

Distribution

South America: found in central southern Brazil and adjacent areas of north-east Bolivia and north-east Paraguay.

Taxonomy

This is a monotypic species[1].

Habitat

Mostly occupies gallery woodland. Tropical savana.
