- Ramphocelus dimidiatus
Identification
Length: 6.75" (17 cm)
Male deep crimson on head and upper body, deep red on lower back and belly. Wings and tail black. Lower mandible bright silver.
Female browner.
Similar Species
Notice that the male is superficially similar to Silver-beaked Tanager.
Distribution
Central and South America: found from western Panama to Colombia and western Venezuela.

- Tropical western and central Panama (east to R¡o Chepo)
- R. d. arestus:
- Coiba Island (Panama)
- R. d. limatus:
- Pearl Islands (Bay of Panama)
