Identification
24–28 cm (9½-11 in)
- Deep blue upperparts with silvery sheen
- Paler streaking on crown
- Long tail
- Rounded wings
Distribution
Central America: found in the humid highlands of southern Mexico (Chiapas), Guatemala, El Salvador, western Honduras and Nicaragua.
Taxonomy
This is a monotypic species[1].
Habitat
Humid highlands, down to dryish lower level vegetation. Thorny scrub and second growth.
Behaviour
Diet
Their main diet consists of insects with the addition of small fruits around the breeding season. They feed mostly on the ground and in lower vegetation.
Breeding
They are territorial.
