Mecocerculus calopterus

Identification

Undersides whitish, head with grey cap, white supercilium, dark eye-line. Mantle olive-green, folded wings with two whitish wing bars on dark background and rufous panel on primaries. Tail has two outer pairs of rectrices white.

Distribution

Ecuador and Peru.

Taxonomy

This is a monotypic species1.

Habitat

Foothills, mainly lower Andean slopes where found in forest and woodland including edge and clearings.

Behaviour

Usually seeking food high near canopy, but lower in edge and clearings. Found in pairs or as part of mixed species flocks.
