Taxonomy

This is a polytypic species^[1] consisting of 2 subspecies.

Plain-bellied Emerald is sometimes placed in genus Agyrtria.

Subspecies

C. l. leucogaster:

Eastern Venezuela to the Guianas and northern Brazil

C. l. bahiae

Eastern Brazil (Pernambuco to Bahia)

Habitat

Subtropical or tropical dry forests, subtropical or tropical mangrove forests, and heavily degraded former forest.
