Identification

27-31 cm in length. Dark rust back and wings. Iridescent crown, nape and back of its neck. The mantle, back, rump and inner wing coverts show purplish red iridescence. White facial stripe.

Distribution

Bahama Islands, Cuba, Isle of Pines, Hispaniola, and southwestern Puerto Rico.
