  • Black crown, wings and tail
  • Black band across the midback
  • Orange head, neck, breast and upper back
  • Olive green rump
  • Yellow belly
  • Elongated throat feathers

The female and young males are olive-green with a yellow belly.

Distribution

Pacific slope of southern Costa Rica and south-western Panama (east to Azuero Peninsula).
