Identification
9–10 cm
- Yellow rump
- Pale yellow wing bars
- Grey ear-coverts
- Grey throat, which extends down to the breast
- Yellowish belly and undertail coverts
- Long greyish supercilium
- Pale grey crown stripe
- Dark grey sides to the crown
- White outer tail feathers
- Grey-yellow underparts
- Dark legs and bill
Distribution
Asia: found in China, Tibet, Nepal, India, eastern and western Himalayas, Bhutan
Southeast Asia: Indochina, Myanmar, Laos, Vietnam, Thailand
Taxonomy
Subspecies
There are 2 subspecies[1]:
- P. m. virens:
- Northern India (Kashmir and northern Punjab to Arunachal Pradesh)
- P. m. maculipennis:
Habitat
Temperate and moist lowland forests, to at least 2565m in Thailand

Diet
Their diet consists almost entirely of insects and larva, which they glean from leaves higher up in the trees.

Call:Its call is a short zit.
