Identification

Mottled brown duck with white and green flashes on its wings. Sexes similar.

Distribution

Indonesia.

Taxonomy

Two subspecies accepted:

Andaman Teal was also treated as a subspecies of this species but is now widely regarded as full species.

Habitat

Open wetlands, freshwater lakes and marshes.

Behaviour

It nests on the ground, in tree holes or rabbit burrows.
