Identification

28cm. Dull black with a slender and slightly decurved coral-red bill.

Distribution

Eastern Colombia, Amazonian Peruand w Brazil, to n Bolivia.

Taxonomy

There are 2 subspecies:

  • M. n. nigrifrons
  • M. n. canescens

Habitat

Lower to middle levels of humid forest, close to rivers and streams.
