Zeiss Terra Opinions (1 Viewer)

I sent the 10x42 back: beside less than perfect collimation, contrast / sharpness clearly not up with other binos in the same price range.

I did keep the 8x42 and the 8x32 and like them for their mechanics and ergonomics, but there are optically superior binos for the same price (not with the Zeiss logo, though).

NB: the (optically much better) 8x25 is an entirely different story.

Just my 2 ct.

I can’t answer your question, although I do see birders on my local RSPB reserve who use them.
My partner chose a pair of 8x32 Terra. I helped her choose at our local optics shop and they were better than the other choices at her (self imposed) £300 price point.

Without wishing to turn this thread into a MIC vs MIJ thread my pair of Terra 8x25’s are MIC. They are excellent and were an absolute bargain using the Zeiss trade in promotion. Never tried the other Terra’s but several friends have them and by and large they are more than happy.

The one who isn’t is a self acknowledged badge and series snob who hankers for a more prestigious pair of bino’s but whose budget falls short of his aspirations and wallet contents.

Whilst they are not as well built as the SW CL 8x25‘s I was going to purchase, I am more than impressed with their optical performance which, with my MK1 eyeballs, is very close to the considerably more expensive SW.

They are ergonomically perfect for me, weigh almost nothing and have taken a fair amount of abuse whilst hiking. They may not last as long as the CL’s but I am more than happy to throw them in a rucksack without thinking.

I am delighted with my Terra’s but the best advice is if you can, go and try them.

I fully agree (my friend has the 8x25 Terra MiC, and I can‘t see any significant difference to my own MiJ; for me one of the better 8x25s around)
