why do seagulls stand on one leg? (1 Viewer)

Quoting from Christopher Leahy, The Birdwatcher's Companion, 1982:

"Sea Gull. A vernacular name for any species of gull, including those which breed inland. Many people think it is the specific name for the commonest gull of the region."

So, speaking in the vernacular, welcome to Bird Forum, or Birdforum ... whatever.
