Hi all, complete newbie here, what size binoculars do people recommend 8x42 or 10x42 ?May seem a silly question but need to start somewhere 🤣🤣
All replies appreciated

After using 8x30, 8x32, and 10x42 bins I have made 8x42 the primary pair. The 10x does show faint tremors however I brace myself. The 8x42 format have been universally recommended by a lot of experienced bird watchers and I have arrived at the same conclusion after some years. You’ll obviously run into a few who can be as still as a Zen monk and can hand hold 12x bins even after a brisk walk! You’ll have to try and find out which is to your liking.

For a beginner I would recommend a 7x42 or 8x42 for the wider FOV, better DOF, less shake and with the bigger EP they are brighter and have easier eye placement. With a bigger FOV it is MUCH easier to find and follow birds, and because you are shaking more with 10x you really don't see that much more detail. A lot of birders like a 7x42, and there are many reasons for it.
