Welcome to Nick's dining room table. (1 Viewer)

Thanks Nick - I feel like an alco whose having his first can of Special Brew after days of the DTs. Once the initial hit has settled in I'll be back with something to say. Sluuurrrp!

Wow! Glad you've not deserted us Nick. Those deer and the rooks are fing genius!

Great sketches too, love the stoney particularly. Well done with the roughleg, they are a bird worth effing over.

Please tell me we should brace ourselves for a torrent of new Derryness?...

Mike

here are the tree sparrows - as you can see I'm a bit manic at the moment, have finally got myself some wheels and am quite terrified at the thought of driving to work tomorrow, hence the scribbliness - hope I don't drive like that tomorrow!

Lots of new stuff and up to your usual high standards as well!! The rooks is my fav. The technique you used suits the piece perfectly and the birds are incredible with the way they are posed and the feather detail. Fantastic work.

I knew you were posting in other forums, but am really glad to see you back at it!!!

Ah - that's better.
Echo Peter's words - if ever a technique, medium and artist were perfectly matched to a subject, then the rooks, (with the rest), are they! Stunning example of 'our' genre at its very best - vibrant, blazingly colourful within a strict palatte and beautifully drawn.
Of the superb collection of drawings, there sits a tree sparrow portrait, centre page, which pulses with life, more than any film-maker could capture. It's a real piece of beauty.
(The rest's pretty fine, too! ;) )

gorgeous Tree Sparrows- that palette of colours would do nicely for a quick Roughleg..

I suppose I should try to do a pic of the roughleg, but as you can probably see from the sketches made just after it disappeared, I was mostly staring up its vent and didn't look at the whole thing - ah we'll see!

should have done this a few days ago Nick but that's a Stonking Sparra painting! And the Deer, fluid and lovely movement, light, shadow ... perfect for the subject matter

lol, he's been having three weeks of people staying in his flat and using the studio table to eat their dinner off - weather has been iffy so no birding, and I'm about to start another job with an evil commute which will eat up all of my time! Seriously, all of a sudden I just haven't found a spare minute to do any painting, but I think I'll have to change that very soon. Just dropping by now to see what I've been missing during my absence!

Welcome back Nick! Bonne chance avec le neuveau travail (God, I was crap at French!)

Evil commute I can sympathise with, I currently do about two hours each way, it's a pain but you do get to time to read and sleep a lot!

Looking forward to the dining room table getting back to its proper use...

Mike

Relatives, eh - who'd have them :smoke:....tell 'em to eat off their knees in front of the tv like normal people ;) :-O Tables are for working on ;)

Glad to see you back Nick....was wondering where you'd gone to!
