Weird freshwater fish, Bempton pond, E Yorkshire, England (1 Viewer)

I'd like to see a photo then, can't believe they look like the Bempton fish. I see Carp all the time in Thornwick Pool here at Flamborough, but I've never seen one that that. I won't be eating my hat just yet.
Just posted a video
Not as good as I would have liked as the fish didn't come as near as it did the other day. Note the dorsal fin raised briefly at 34 seconds in. The fish is swimming backwards at that point.

I have seen large Tench feeding in this manner and the shape of the tail in your photos suggests this might be your answer and they also hold their dorsal fins tight when feeding like this which makes them look short. Hope this helps.

I think the refraction from the water is exaggerating any abnormal appearance with the head etc under the surface...the humpback silhouette is fairly standard for some leather or mirror carp when in spawning condition though an abnormality / deformity cannot be ruled out.

A bit puzzled by this reply as I have never been able to see the tail.
