Water birds, Corpus Christi, TX USA (1 Viewer)

Southeastern Utah, USA
Hi, folks.

I am visiting relatives in Corpus Christi, and I got to go see some birds. I am not sure what a lot of them are, and I am hoping that the good folks here can help me with a few IDs. :)

1. This one is the size of a very small duck
2. I am curious about the gulls just to the right of the brown pelican, and the long-legged thing (maybe a stilt?) in the upper right. I know the stilt is probably not identifiable from this photo, and I am sorry to say that I don't have a better one.
3. Tri-colored Heron?

Here are 3 more:

4. This one is the right size for a yellow-crowned night heron, but the colors are wrong for an adult. Is it a juvenile?
5. A gigantic bird. Crane? Heron? Pteradactyl?
6. These were little fast shore birds, zipping in and out of the surf. Are the plovers? I know this is a bad pic - they were VERY far away.

Thanks for any help!

Hi Katie,

If you have the time, you should take the boat trip to see the Whooping Cranes. You are by their wintering site in the Port Aransas NWR and you should not miss these spectacular birds.

Hi, all - and thanks very much for the replies and help!

etudiant - I wish I could, but I won't have time. I am really disappointed that I won't get to see them. I was told that they were here in passing this evening, and we leave in the morning. Darn, darn, double darn. :(

I did get to see a long-billed curlew striding through a little bayside park this afternoon, and he is my latest lifer. :)
