Can someone please identify these sunbirds? Taken in Mgahinga Nat. Park Uganda July 3. I believe 1, 6, 7, 8, and 9 are Olive-bellied Sunbirds.
Thanks
Chris

It's strange how some threads slip down the rankings with no answers, while other threads which don't seem especially more difficult are answered confidently by someone, or at least attract robust debate.

Anyway, I'll give this thread my best shot. At least it will boost it to the top, and I hope others will agree with me or disagree with me. I don't mind being wrong if it encourages others to give an opinion which eventually leads to the correct ID.

Firstly, I think the four pictures of the bird with a blue head and back (6, 7, 8 and 9 in the series) are Variable Sunbird, male, ssp igneiventris. The book shows a green colour, but I think the name 'Variable' precisely refers to the fact that depending on the light it looks really blue or really green. In fact you can see some of this blue/green change in the second picture. Also, you can see the orange/red on the belly in the fourth picture and the reddish pectoral tufts in the second picture.

On this basis, I think that the last two photo of the whole set are female Variable Sunbird - the tail in the final photo which is blackish blue with a white edge is good for this. She seems to be a bit wet or bedraggled generally.

Going back to the first five pictures. The first picture is probably also Variable, but might be other possibilities given the fact that we can't see the tail, the chest or the bill and face from the front. I would drop this photo for ID.

Photos 2 and 3 in the series: I wonder if this is Olive Sunbird - but I have never seen this, so...? The yellow wing panel seems to fit, for example, and the lack of any supercilium. If photos 4 and 5 in the series are the same bird, then fine, but if not, then I can't guess from these shots.

Hope this helps (eventually).
