Unidentifiable Birdcall at night?? (1 Viewer)

Hi I’m Sadie. I signed in to this Forum because I hear that Stange noise outside at night, that I can’t identify. Is it a bird? And if yes, wich?

We have woods here in the area, a river and fields, if that’s helpful.

It’s driving me crazy that I can’t find anything that sounds similar! 😭

I’m Looking forward to many answers and I’m very happy to be a member of this community now!

here the audio:

MOD: I've deleted the file as it was a mis-identified zip file.

Hi welcome to the forum ojn behalf of the staff and moderators. I think you will find us a friendly and helpful group. I’ve never posted an audio file on here, but am pretty sure you need an MP3 file not a zip file.

I tried to add it here again
The attachment works fine, it needs renaming back to the native *.mp3 with a manual download (most movie/sound files are already highly compressed so little advantage in zipping them). Allowing an auto-download (very common now) will retain the *.zip

Mods: can you rename the attachment, or does it need re-uploading as a .mp3?

Morning Andy.. how did you manage to play this, I get nothing LOL.

I have several "Download" attempts, and re-named one to .mp3, but neither MediaPlayer nor Clipchamp can open it.

Hi Sadie and a warm welcome to you from all the Staff and Moderators.

Sorry, I've been unable to help using Andrew's advice. Can you save your file in .mp3 format and re-upload it. There's obviously something recorded, as Andy is clever enough with 'puterish stuff to be able to hear it.

I'm sure you will enjoy it here and I look forward to hearing your news.

I simply recorded it with the pre installed app on my Phone, than added it into “files” and posted here. I’ll try to convert it to mp3 or record it in another way next time I hear it.

And what did you think? Is it even a bird? I’m pretty confused with it 😅

Sorry Sadie, I'm not very good with noises now, I've lost access to several of the higher octaves in the last couple of decades and so my PC sound mixer has been roughly tweaked to 'reclaim' a little of what I can no longer hear naturally, or without being dangerously close to the source.

The 'tweaked' sounds from Mono in #18 are better than my vanilla copy but I don't think I've heard anything similar - what I can hear 'feels' like there's a lot of acoustic reflection/reinforcement happening, like a toy in an empty goldfish bowl, or the back of a small cave... some elements do vaguely remind me of Golden Oriole, or some of the more vocal European toads - I can't rule out a Scops - type owl, or any nocturnal insects from your region as I haven't experienced them.

Have you been out to listen since? What was the weather/temperature like the night you made the recording?

I'll hand you back to those who can hear things well :)
