Ultravid 8x20 BR - help me find a low profile pouch! (1 Viewer)

Yes, the stock pouch that come with the BL model would be great, and was discussed earlier in the thread, but it's not available anywhere AFAIK. The 10x25 leather pouch is sold at a few spots but it's extra long to match the length of the 10x25. If I could find that pouch for sale I'd grab it.

I just looked up the spec for the 10x25 @ 112mm and it looks like it would be a tight fit, but a fit nonetheless. My 8x20 actually fits loosely inside, with the eyecups pulled out and measures in at just barely over 100mm.3C74A6F0-D8E1-442A-9DE0-54F100BCC104.jpegF47D53A0-97CB-48F2-B19A-BA3CE4A02BA1.jpeg

Just to be clear, I have the 8x20 binoculars and the only pouch that's for sale is the one that comes with the 10x25. So the issue is that the Leica leather pouch that I could potentially buy is too long, not too short :)

The 8x20 pouch that you have is the one I would want, but it is not available for sale anywhere that I can find.

Since the one I have is so much longer than the 8x20, even when the eyecups are all the way out, makes me wonder if they don't just have the one-size-fits-both approach here? I'll keep looking for you and check to see if there are indeed two separate sizes or not.

Here's one of the Leica pouches that are currently available, although unfortunately it looks like they're not the ideal match that he was looking for.

There's an 8x20 Ultravid and a 7x21 Curio in the pics showing their slightly loose fit.

Maxpedition Barbacle pouch is perfect for any x20 compact. The toughest you can get 👍

Just curious if any of you that are carrying these small pocket bins in sunglass microfibers, socks and "back pockets" every run into collimation issues. I ask because they seem to be impossibly easy to knock out of alignment. I'm one of those people who's fairly careful with my optics, yet I've knocked two high end pocket bins out of alignment doing relatively mundane things. The 10x25 LX was in a backpack in a soft case, the 8x25 CL was in my front pocket. I temporarily put it there so that I didn't drop it while making a small hop from a couple of rocks in a stream. In both cases the hinge pins bent/shifted. If you're getting away with it then that's spectacular but I haven't been so lucky.

My only concern with these and the Goblin is the top-load drawstring. The thing I like most about the Op/Tech neoprene style is they are side loading not top, I’m worried about poking the lens as I reach in and getting a big fingerprint on the lens :/

As one who wildly over accessorizes even pockets, I remain intrigued by Eitan's concept of minimalist grab and go carry. Some of my pants and jackets have lint free pockets and with those I carry the UV 8x20 BL without a pouch or lens covers as pictured below. I still want some security against dropping them though so use the Opticron finger strap shown. If a pouch is needed, courtesy of my wife's preferred lipstick, I now have a square lint free pouch (but not micro fiber) which enables carry in a pocket at my IP adjustment with the lenses oriented "fore and aft" so that reaching into the pouch does not risk finger prints on the lenses.
