UK Bird Checklist book ? (2 Viewers)

Hello,

Just recently returnbed to bird watching after about 30 years (UK). When was last
interested was quite young and at the time had a RSPB checklist book that was a
small book, smaller than A5 and had a few copies of a tick list for all the birds
in the UK. Could keep a life list, year one etc. It was a small thin brown book
and remember also buying a grey plastic cover for it at the time.

I kick myself as must have thrown it out in one of many house moves and clearouts,
annoying as would love to have looked back and seen what I saw as a kid as did do
quite a bit back then.

Now getting back into it thought I'd go and buy the same book again but can't find it
anywhere - thought would be quite a common book people would still want.

Have seen a few links to on-line lists but really just wanted an equivalent book to
I used to have - anyone know where they sell something similar or has technology
overtaken me.

Thanks

Lawrence

Unfortunately the book has now been replaced by online blogs and the like but as htc says there are several sites you can print off your own checklists.

I've seen something like this recently at the shop either at the London Wetland Centre or the RSPB reserve at Rainham Marshes. I flicked through it and remember it because my dad used to have one years ago when I was a wee nipper.

Hi Lawrence,

You will be pleased to know that you can still obtain virtually the same booklet. It is called "Birdwatcher's Field Lists" or "Field Check List" and is available over the counter at any RSPB shop at a cost of £1. It is in an almost identical format and includes ten lists to use as you wish.

Many thanks for everyones replies, it did appear technology had overtaken
me but pleased to know they still sell the same booklet, planning a trip to
a reserve very soon so will pick one up. Thanks also for the links the
spreadsheet is handy for keeping a list at work of the birds I see in the park
I visit every lunchtime (Morriston Park) - saw a Nuthatch yesterday and the
list is growing weekly, it was a treecreeper in the park early this year that got me back into it.
