Swarovski ATM or ATS HD? (2 Viewers)

I saw a deal for a demo ATS 80 HD with 25-50X eyepiece and ordered it. I look forward to getting it in the mail tomorrow. I saw the new modular ATX models at the Safari Club International convention in Reno, NV a few weeks back. Impressive design but the price is too high so I decided to try the old classic. ;)

The lower transmission values of scopes vs binoculars is explained in my opinion by the fact that it is a percentage value.

Percentage of what?

Incident light or collected light at the objective. Despite the larger objective on scopes, getting all of that incident light into the exit pupil is going to result in lower transmitted values for the scope vs the binocular.

Imagine it like a water pipe, the collecting end can be as big as you like, but the limit is at the end its being passed through. I'm not basing this on a known law or theory of light, just intuiting, and I allow that it may be wrong :)
