Svbony 406P - collaborative list of compatible eyepieces (2 Viewers)

I made a rough comparison; tomorrow I will do a more in-depth one: exterior appearance, lens size, exterior inscriptions, sharpness, contrast, visible aberrations, and field of view.

Hi can I ask you 406p users a short question? Does that bigger focus wheel feel uneven when you turn it throughout the focus range (from all the way to the left clockwise to all the way to the right?) I just bought it and there is a range where it feels much harder to turn it….
Ty in advance

On mine, it's quite regular, a little rubbing sensation in the middle but nothing more...

Have you roll it ten or twenty times ?

Yea quite a bit…just scared that it’s gonna be unusable in colder temperatures or that it’s gonna get worse over time. Ty for your answer.

Response to Bifi. My experience is the same as Jinac. It has been through 3 or 4 Canadian winters. Works very well. Great scope.

  • Baader Hyperion 13mm =>Very good, but less bright than i expecetd
Since I could buy this at a very favourable price, I took the plunge tonight but was almost immediately discouraged by a number of reviews, stating it is the weakest performer in the line, and not suitable for fast scopes. Did you find the edge sharpness satisfactory?
Anyway, I can easily return it but need something that yields about 30-35x with a wide AFOV and suitable with spectacles.
I'm so spoiled with the fixed Nikon Wide DS's and can't get along with this zoom, especially now that this scope is paired with a Nikon Monarch HG 8x42. I'd prefer to stay with the 406P but won't rule out anything necessary to gain a more comfortable view.

I've sold it couple weeks ago, I haven't use it a lot and I'm not an expert. I'm not sure but in my remember the edge sharpness was ok, probably similar to original zoom, maybe little better. But with CA, like other EP on this scope I think.

Hyperion 13 arrived today and so far I'm delighted. There is a curvature of field present, but if I want to have another part of the huge FOV sharper without turning the scope, focus is easily achieved with the fine focus knob. I think 33x is a perfect magnification for most purposes although I could see myself occasionally wanting some more. It betters the zoom in all departments IMO.

It may be true that brightness seems somewhat lacking compared to the 30x Wide DS on Fieldscope ED82A, but the slightly smaller frontlens of the Svbony together with the slightly higher magnification actually means there's about a 22% loss of brightness, so it's not necessarily a result of subpar AR coatings or generally worse transmission rate in the eyepiece.

I'm thankful you mentioned this eyepiece because it used to be under the radar for me. It's all I needed and a perfect match to the 406P, and I literally breathe out now that this is completed because there's no need to swap the scope for something else and more expensive.
