Suet storage and shelf life? (2 Viewers)

I bought a bulk pack of commercial suet, but it turned out so far the birds around here don't like it.

So how should I store them, and how long can they be kept? Right now I keep them in basement but thinking I could take them out to the shed and let them freeze for the winter.

I store commercial suet cakes in the garage all year round, including in the summer when I don't feed the birds. The summers here are quite hot and the garage is poorly insulated, but I've never had any problems with spoilage.

Thanks, good to know. Come to think of it rendered fat is probably pretty stable, I've left bacon fat candle outside in the weather for months with no sign of spoilage.

I keep mine stored in an extra fridge or freezer in the garage, mostly because I'll do anything to prevent rodents! But my supplier did say both is acceptable.
