Starling nesting in roof (1 Viewer)

Yes! A starling is nest building in our roof the first time in maybe 15+ years when we used to have house sparrows, it's very exciting.
Haven't seen it myself me and my mum heard strange noise yesterday, mum thought the house was haunted, LOL!
A neighbour told my mum a Starling has been entering our roof. Used to take the house sparrows for granted but not this time.
By spring hopefully our house will have little babies.
The starling has been singing this last week outside my bedroom, makes me feel all homely.
I might sound like a big over reacting wuss for a bloke but I don't care.

When we had starlings in the roof they made a heck of a mess in the loft. Also the noise from the young woke the kids up every morning about 4am until they fledged. The starlings certainly liked it, we had to replace the air vents to stop them getting in to have their 3rd brood of the year!

Doesn't bother me, house sparrows were noisy and messy, so I know what to expect.

Well done Steven. I too wouldn't mind if they took up residence in my roof space. Sadly, many of the birds that favour houses (sparrows, starlings, house martins, swifts etc) are treated as unwelcome visitors these days.
