Saw 2 coopers hawks, a merlin and unfortunately a red fox dining on a snowy owl. Snowy owls spend a lot of time on the ground and foxes are stealthy hunters. Ottawa, Canada.
Survival. Larger owls also prey on smaller owls. There is a famous location here in eastern Ontario where barred owls have feasted on both long-eared owls and saw-whets.
Did you see it Kill it? The Owl looks a bit rank to me maybe scavenged rather than killed ,would be a brave fox that would take on a large fierce owl, although I suppose could take it by surprise?
