Sinharaja tips (3 Viewers)

Visited Sinharaja via Kudawa in early March and thought I’d share some info. If you go to the reserve entrance you will be allocated a guide. For birding best to arrange a guide in advance via your accommodation. Gunurathne (who also runs a homestay on the entrance road) was excellent as was Tandulla. However there are some birds which are easier to see outside the reserve (e.g. Serendib Scops Owl and Chestnut-backed Owlet). Malshan Sandun on +94766042807 is a passionate local photographer who can help you find these and other wildlife. We stayed at the Sinharaja Birding Lodge which is under new management and great value only 20 minutes walk from the entrance.
