This Shrike has been trapped today in Ventes Ragas ringing station (Lithuania).
Your opinions apreaciated.

Prorper rare bird for Europe! IOC has it split from excubitor so even better - New species for Lithuania? :)
 
Wow Marius, I hope you got a feather sample! It's a 1st-w Northern Shrike Lanius borealis and almost certainly ssp. sibiricus-some nice images for comparision https://birdsmongolia.blogspot.com/2014/11/more-sibiricus-northern-shrikes.html?m=1 note brown upperparts, pale lores along with reduced white to primary bases and tail.

Just an update. Lanius borealis approved by Lithuanian RC as a new species for Lithuania (according to IOC) after we received DNA confirmation from blood sample.
