Sabines Gull, Isle of Skye. (3 Viewers)

I think (don't know about Scotland per se) that May records are birds migrating north still, and yes, more unusual as they tend to go straight through or migrate more pelagically (out to sea) whereas August records onwards are birds moving south on a broader front/following the coast more ...

??

(So the chance of one in June normally pretty slim).

Sabine’s Gull is a great find! On the Isle of Skye, they’re often seen during migration, so you got lucky. Flight shots are always tricky, but keep trying, especially with good lighting. If you shot in RAW, try sharpening them – you might get better details.

ps.

I’ve seen a Sabine’s Gull before, but I never managed to get a decent photo – they’re just too quick! XD Neist Point is an amazing spot for birding; I’ve also seen fulmars and puffins there. Definitely worth revisiting, you might spot something even more exciting!
