Thanks everyone. Was beautiful out today. Had the grandkids over as I do every Friday. Deck day in the afternoon tomorrow. have an adjustable rest which I'm going to use to steady the glass. The 1 handed thing will only be for a couple of weeks

That is good to hear, you are blessed.

Thanks, yes i'm truly blessed. I'm back to being able to use both hands. When the weather gets better later this week I'll give them both a workout. I think the wife likes the SV model better. So far I can't decide.

Greeting bungart!

I just read of your open heart surgery. I had that done in August. Recovery for me was pretty fast. I did get to do a lot of walking and birding! I hope and pray for you to have a speedy recovery as well! Feel free to send me a PM of you have any concerns whatsoever about your surgery!

Take care!

Yes, this is where I chose to live even before I got out of business. I had been coming here for 20 years before I moved here.
Chuck, Thanks I'm doing much better now. Got the defib. pacemaker combo 4 weeks ago and it seems to be doing well. Glad You had good results with Yours.
Spent some time on the deck today with both sets of 8x32's. I'd sure hate to eat off the difference. Ideal conditions which in my opinion doesn't tell you much. More difficult conditions this week.

My wonderful spouse decided that she likes the SVs better. The 2010 8x32s were an upgrade for her when we bought this place. She had Leupold Yosemite 6 powers. They are quite good. The grandkids have taken them and a set of 8s over. I think I actually like the old ones better. Both are great.

I really love your story, I have also found the 8x32 EL ergos. to be very nice, I can say my favorite. I have smallish
hands and they just fit great. And I also agree about the Leupold Yosemite 6x30, I have given several of them to
my grandchildren, when they reach age 5. That is a little early, it seems, since they brought one back to me as
they broke off the eyepiece.............that reminds me, I need to send it in, and I suspect Leupold will send me
a new one.

Thanks, the ones that use the binocs are 2 eight year olds and a 13. They are very good about leaving the Swarovski's untouched

does anybody have the EL 8x32 fp 2018?
looking thru the objective end i notice brass coloured collars ,1 in each barrel, its part of the focus mechanism & wondered this cant be right (?)
i sent these back to austria for those nice people to check out . i got them back after 6 weeks fully serviced , new armour , eyecups but stll the brass coloured collars 🤔
has anybody else noticed this ????

Hi GB (post #30),

So that others can follow, the brass coloured collars presumedly look like this:

EL SV 8x32's.jpg

On the left an early EL SV 8x32 #F8148 40046 (numbering started at 40k), from a 2017 listing by urgl_2009 on the German site eGun.
And a later 8x32 #F8737 44413, from a 2018 listing by haferflocke52 on ebay.

. . . If so, as Jerry said, perfectly normal.

Hi again GB,

With brass coloured collars in mind, I thought that you might have been referring to the rings just inside the objectives, as in the images that I posted.

However, your images show the screw head is far deeper in the objective, and one of a pair side by side, just in front of the prism.
Unfortunately, the only image that I could find that shows the area is inconclusive:

It’s an 8x32 from a 2015 listing by birder7206 on ebay.

It may that Jerry or someone else with a x32 EL, can confirm if their unit has a similar coloured screw or not.

I used a flashlight to examine my 8x32 SV (SN F8334447907), which appear identical to the photo posted in this thread. Your photo does not show the colored screw, but the only way to see it is by holding the binocular at a narrow (acute) angle not shown in your photo above. Moreover, at that angle and adjacent to that screw is some sort vertical brass shaft(??) -- I have no idea what that is or what its function is.

I think we have seen enough. Swarovski knows how to build optics. There is nothing
here of concern. Its called "beating a dead horse".
Jerry
hi ,why have 'we' seen enough ?? i was only asking if other members had the same inner component that i noticed in my pair. ive not seen it mentioned in any other posts so was merely enquiring.
also if swaro know how to build optics , why are there +++numerous posts on this forum stating the opposite (?)
have a good day
