Rook or Raven (1 Viewer)

Definitely a Rook. A Raven has a black beak and a noticeable hump like protrusion on the top of it's head. Never seen a rook before, but in British Columbia, we have plenty of ravens and crows.

Not sure about that Terry, where did you snap it. I refer to the fighting birds.

PS what do you think my avatar is?

Hi Terry

I remember seeing Ravens in Spain last year, and they where jet black from beak to tail.

Ravens are scruffy to look at, and the general feathering looks uneven.

Rooks have a much greyer bill, as you picture shows. They look tidier in appearance.

Hi Robert, I put another shot up on a new thread, you will see the bird pinned down has the throat feathers like the ravens, they have now ID them as Ravens

Note especially the bottom birds tail shape, the bills of both birds are not very heavy in appearance, the wings are not particularly long or broad and the birds in general seem to crow like. I would go with Carrion Crow for these birds
