Hello,
Has anybody any experience of having Leitz/Leica binoculars repaired at Milton Keynes? I have a pair of the old (but lovely) style Leitz Trinovid 8x40B that need some attention, but am not sure were to send them and who may still carry spare parts.
Thanks

Hi Nick,
I have no experience with the old style Trinovid, but I guess sending them to the firm itself in Germany should provide the best service. I sent my Trinovid BN 12x50 there last year and was very satisfied with the service. I got them back after two weeks after changing one objective-lens. They have a collection of all the old-style binos there and I imagine they offer the best possibility for your problem. The address is:
Leica Camera AG
Oskar-Barnack-Straße
D-35606 Solms
www.leica-camera.com

Perhaps you can send them an E-mail first and ask in your special case, whether it is better to send them to Milton Keynes or to Solms in Germany.

Best regards

Andreas

Nick I have as a backup a pair of trinovid 8x42 (superb bins all the rage in the 70s and 80s) I had them serviced and also had the close focus adjusted. The repair people did an excellent job.
Their address is :- http://www.opticalrepairs.com/ good value for money.

Ref. POPS reply, the website referred to is not the official Leica service/repair department. I don't know anything about this firm, but if they're reputed to be good then that's fine - you're choice! The UK contact details are Leica Camera Ltd, Milton Keynes. Their contact number is 01908 666663. They carry spares and repairs for the Leitz Trinovid you refer to, good luck

As I said they did an excellent job and were cheaper and quicker than Leitz.i did not say that they were the official Leitz site.Give them a ring, you will not be dissapointed.

Thanks to all who took the time to reply. Very grateful. It seems Leica in Milton Keynes is the place to send them, so I'll follow that up.

Hi Nick, a few years ago we took my wife's Lietz Trinovid 10x40s to the Milton Keynes Lieca HQ. A small screw was loose somewere inside. They fixed it, recollimated and cleaned all at no cost while we waited, about one hour. Difficult to beat that for good service. The bins were about 15 years old at the time. Regards Pete.

ooops, just seen that you posted in 2006 !!! Well info is still valid as they gave such good service.Pete
