Pistol grip for sennheiser ME66? (1 Viewer)

Is it a good idea to get a pistol grip for a sennheiser ME66? Does it make any difference? Do you have any recommandations?

What about this kit : http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/263721-REG/Rycote_033702_Medium_Hole_Softie_Lyre.html

Also, Is there a significant difference between a foam windsreen and a softie?
I've got an ME66 and a Rycote softie, and I'm happy with it in fairly strong winds. It fits over the foam wind screen which I believe comes standard with the microphone (I bought it second hand, so not sure). I'm told there's quite a lot of difference between it and the foam cover alone, although I've never tried it.

I made my own shockmount from PVC pipe and rubber bands, something like this one:

Seems to work ok, although it's a little fiddly getting at the mic power switch, so it's easy to forget to turn it on and off. A big hole drilled in the right place should help with that. There are heaps of DIY instructions for them out there, seems a lot of people aren't happy paying $120 for one.

You do need to have something, as it's very tedious holding the mic carefully to avoid handling noise.

I'm wishing I'd made the handle removable, as it would be easier to fit it into a backpack without it attached.
